Transcendent Luminosity: UK Tour, Fall 2013

Parvati's Transcendent Luminosity UK Tour

For the past few months, Rishi and I have been hard at work getting ready to go on tour. We have been booking venues, doing the PR and planning for the shows and workshops. We are very happy to be going to England for six weeks beginning mid-October, and touring all over the country to share music, yoga and spiritual inspiration – and we thank you for all the support you are giving to help to make this a possibility. We could not do it without you!
In response to my recent mass email announcing the tour and the ambassador offer (if you are not on the email list, you can join by clicking here), I received requests to share more about the nature of my work and the tour. So I do so here:
I am a Canadian singer, performer and yoga teacher. I co-founded the University of Toronto’s Holistic Education Programme, founded YEM: Yoga as Energy Medicine (the method of yoga I teach) and recent published my debut self-help book “Confessions of a Former Yoga Junkie: A Revolutionary Life Makeover for the Sincere Spiritual Seeker”. I produce music and shows and teach workshops in yoga, sound and personal growth. So far, I tour North America and Europe (Asia soon!) performing and teaching at festivals, studios and in halls.
My upcoming tour through England mid October to end of November, 2013, is called “Transcendent Luminosity” because at the heart of all my work, I know this to be our true nature. The tour is designed to inspire and support each one of us being the best we can be.
My current album and show share the same name, “YIN: Yoga In the Nightclub”. YIN, because they celebrate the divine feminine, and Yoga In the Nightclub, because they are an invitation for people to learn to practice yoga, that is, oneness with the divine, everywhere, even in the nightclub.
The album was born out of a deep sense of gratitude for the profound experience I had between September 2010 and September 2011. In September 2010, I went to the North Pole to sing for Mother Earth and help raise awareness of melting ice. A few months after I returned, I experienced a devastating spinal injury that left me paralyzed from the waist down and fully bed-ridden for months. Through the application of the principles I teach in my various workshops and book, I was able to make a full recovery, which the doctors called miraculous. By the end of September 2011, I was walking and dancing again.
As soon as I was able to walk again, I was filled with so much awe and gratitude for life, I went into my studio and out-poured the album “YIN: Yoga In the Nightclub”, a series of songs and soundscapes that celebrate the divine feminine as the awakened Earth. At no point in the creative process did I feel that “I” was the one doing the work. I just had to get out of the way. I felt that the same majestic force to which I bowed in reverence at the North Pole and that carried me through my healing, was expressing itself through these songs and compositions. It was a powerful experience. I was literally brought to my knees a few times through the process. I was blown away by the potency of the ancient Sanskrit chants (this was the first time I recorded in Sanskrit), the power of the divine mother and the magnificence of life-force energy, our true “shakti” nature.
The accompanying show is described as an interactive, multidimensional shakti experience with high tech sonics and visual effects. I love that slug line! Lush images of nature stream behind me as the stage is bathed in changing colours. Visually, sonically and spiritually rich, the show leaves people feeling touched, connected, interconnected and inspired.
I love singing the new material because I see people light up when I do. I feel like it communicates the truth that we are all one, that love is life and that life is love. I feel that whenever I sing these songs, I am doing yoga and that people who are participating with me (dancing or singing along) are doing yoga, that is, merging with the divine. It is my joy to share this music and to have people come together and join in celebrating the earth and our interconnection. This is the way I shine my light. I know that as I do, it helps everyone shine theirs. Together, we illuminate the world and become transcendent luminosity. This is one the ways that I actively pray that we each may spark into remembering the oneness that we all are.
Before the show, I will be teaching “The Healing Power of Sound”, a fun and empowering workshop to awaken your inner healer through sounding, vocalizations, chakra balancing and sacred chants. I first developed this to teach it at the University of Toronto. It requires no vocal experience – simply an open heart and willingness to let go, explore and enjoy.
I will also be teaching throughout England “YEM: Yoga as Energy Medicine”, a form of Hatha yoga that looks at the way vital life-force moves through the body and can effortlessly animate our yoga practice from deep within. It too is a course I developed at the University of Toronto (I have produced an instructional DVD and CD for it). Over the years studying and teaching yoga, I feel there are a lot of misconceptions about yoga. YEM addresses an essential piece that most yoga practitioners forget to address. In essence, yoga teaches us that we are not the doers, but pure energy arising. Yet many Hatha yoga practitioners get caught up in an external image of perfection, such as a great looking downward dog, or a sense of accomplishment from more challenging poses. Because I can see energy, I can sense where it is blocked in individual energy systems. I have an ability to support the release of energy blocks, and can help teach people how to see and release them. YEM is a profound exploration of yoga for people of all levels and yoga styles.
While on tour, I will also be teaching a workshop that accompanies my new self-help book “Confessions of a Former Yoga Junkie”. Confessions was born in India when I almost died. I had a near death experience, where I was brought face to face with my shadows and the shadows of the spiritual path. I came back from the other side seeing things very differently from before, with greater insight into the pitfalls on the spiritual path, and how important it is not to take fools’ gold for real gold. In the tradition of Eckhart Tolle and Debbie Ford, the workshop empowers people to transform their lives based on what I learned from my own experience. I guide people to see the unnecessary burdens they place on themselves and how to release them. We look at how to reclaim your authentic self and how to live a life rooted in lasting joy. I help people develop a healthy relationship with their self, with others and with the divine.
Please visit my tour page for locations, dates and tickets. Early bird specials are in effect that allow you to save as much as £50 on a package deal.
We welcome support for the tour from donors, ambassadors or simply well-wishers. If you are active in the Canadian music scene, you may know that FACTOR, an organization supporting Canadian musicians, has greatly diminished its support for many successful musicians across the country, myself included. This means that more than ever, my tour is dependent on fan support.
I love my album. I love my show. I love my workshops. And I love sharing them. And I would love to share them with you. Life is to be celebrated. So let’s celebrate together. See you in England!
Any questions, please let me know. I am happy to serve.
Jai Ma,
Parvati
