Hello from "I Am Light" production

Hello friends,
Early this morning we wrapped up my I Am Light music video shoot. It has been a fabulous journey: coming up with the artistic vision and storyboard, designing and creating sets and costumes, recruiting and directing cast, as well as editing, re-recording and mixing my song as a 4 minute radio edit instead of an 8 minute extended mix. The I Am Light video was made possible by a wonderful group of volunteers in the role of dancers, extras, makeup artist, roadies, etc… I have been graced with working with people from Toronto as well as from the broader Amma community worldwide who have pitched in to help support the creative vision and bring forward the luminous message and energy contained in the song. A huge thank you from the bottom of my heart to all who have shared in whatever way you have to make this music video and song a success so far! I could not do it without you.
On set, I was asked who creates my music. I produce all my own music, which means that I write, compose, arrange, play the instruments, edit and engineer my own sounds in my own music studio, where I work every day. People sometimes perceive me as the singer, and Rishi, my husband, as the producer, mixer, engineer. Perhaps it is a male/female thing. We may culturally lean towards seeing men as more technical than women. Though Rishi is very talented in his own ways, I do the sonic technical work.
I am very lucky that Rishi is willing to lend his MBA and years of experience in the music industry in being my music manager. As our record label Kupid’s Play is right now like The Little Engine That Could, Rishi oversees marketing and booking. He is the executive producer for my artistic projects, including the music videos. He programs the lighting for my shows and is the general muscle to get us from point A to point B. I am the one who conceptualizes, creates, refines and arranges all the sounds you hear on my recordings as well as their visual representations, such as in photo shoots and videos.
I wrote this blog post before Sunday night’s final magical shoot with forest fairies, elementals and my character Natamba’s return to screen, and have not had time to post it till now. But here are a few images to enjoy from Saturday night’s shoot at the wonderful Aki Studio Theatre.

The stage getting set, as seen through crystal trees, with my dress on the spot. This has been my most challenging costume to create yet, as I was working with delicate cellophane instead of stitchable fabric. My dressmaker mannequin, whom I nickname “Judy”, has been essential.

My beautiful friends Joy and Jennifer (Jennifer is behind me and not seen) help to get my dress positioned. I have to get dressed on the stage because this costume does not walk through doorways!

Breathe in. Feel the aliveness in that breath. Exhale and feel how, through your breath, you are vastly interconnected to all of life. Through your breath, you quickly can feel profoundly interconnected with the dance of life.
Every breath we take is in harmony with a breathing universe that pulses and flows just as our in and out breaths do. It is as if everything that is exists within one giant lung. The pumping of our hearts and the shifts in the tissue that makes up our bodies are in sync with the ebb and flow of ocean waves. The synapses in our brains that go off and on to create thoughts are like the sparkles in the stars that light up the night sky, or the auric field that shimmers to make a tree or a flower look so alive. We are literally one with everything that is…
Until next time,
Love yourself.
Love others.
Love our world.
We are ONE Earth family.
Namaste,
Parvati
